Artist Zahra Ammar has always had a profound relationship with colors and pigments. Her work is a concerto of colors and this led her quest to find the perfect gold paint for her paintings. The results were so striking that she began sharing her creations with fellow artists, who offered enthusiastic feedback and encouragement. This positive reception inspired Zahra to delve deeper into the world of pigments and paint-making. Today, she creates a wide variety of artisanal paints, each crafted with the same passion and meticulous attention to detail that marked the beginning of her journey. Zahra now shares her expertise and love for pigments with others, helping artists discover the joy of creating their own unique paints.

In this workshop, you will:

· Explore the concept of pigments and understand what they are.

· Learn where to source or find your own pigments including semi-precious ones.

· Discover how to create a universal binder and the chemistry behind it.

· Get acquainted with the essential tools needed and their specific functions.

· Hands-on experience in creating a variety of ochres.

· Learn to identify when the perfect paint consistency is achieved.

· Understand the best methods for storing your handmade paints.

Attendees will be given a list of things needed to follow along in making the paints.

About Artist Zahra Ammar 

Zahra Ammar is a paper artist who loves to cut, fold and explore the endless possibilities of paper. She is also in a deep relationship with colors and pigments, creating artisanal watercolors with semiprecious minerals, foraged rocks and synthetic colors. Driving her inspiration from her love of hiking and reading, her work is an essay on florals and geometric patterns. Although paper is her main focus, she has extensive experience working with different paint mediums. Moreover, she has created murals in public and corporate places.
