A dedicated student of Mohamed Zakariya Hoca and a recipient of his icazet (master calligrapher’s license), Josh has spent over eight years perfecting his craft. Beyond calligraphy, he creates every element of his pieces by hand, from making his own paper to grinding inks and marbling the materials. His meticulous approach ensures that each work is truly his own, and he will share this holistic process with attendees during the workshop.

Josh’s expertise spans both artistic and academic realms. With a background in Arabic language and Islamic studies, his work draws inspiration from classical Arabic poetry and the rich cultural traditions of the Middle East and Central Asia.
